2023 ART TAIPEI—Liang Gallery will present a group exhibition of twelve artists to showcase the diversity and contemporary value of art

For the ART TAIPEI exhibition this year, Liang Gallery has taken “The Image Game" as its theme, inviting the audience to step into the artists’ works and watch how the artists use different images to express their observations and reflections upon the environment. It also emphasizes the diverse presentation of different media, such as the interaction between sculpture, painting, installation and the viewer, as if in a game, creating a pleasant and unpredictable dynamic relationship.

Through concise lines, LEE Zai-Qian’s works break the barrier between space and the viewer. The viewer is more like a participant and is able to continue their dialogue with the work. Hsu Yunghsu’s ceramic sculptures evoke the interactive relationship between the body and natural media through the flow, extension, repetition, stacking and extrusion. LEE Chung-Chung once said, “The forms of modern ink painting are diverse and broad, and encompass all manner of concerns about nature and humanity. Art is like a game to me." Her brushstrokes and ink on rice and tissue paper seem to be drawn from the innocent heart of a child traveling freely to wherever it wishes to be.

The new works of Leo WANG and HUANG Yi-Sheng continue to explore the possibilities of their themes, with viewpoints from different backgrounds and characters, and carefully arranged scenes, allowing the viewers to seek for clues about the relationship between humanity, nature, technology and civilization. The purity, courage, kindness, and positive power of LO Chiao-Ling’s warm-hearted works transport viewers back to their childhoods. Sinje Lee’s works have a healing power: the layers of paint and lines are intertwined into countless vortices, ups and downs, the emotions delicate and contagious.

CHIANG Kai-Chun’s new work uses “Taiwan nephrite" from Hualien and blue “lapis lazuli" from Afghanistan for the first time. The theme continues the archeology of Taiwan’s prehistory and draws inspiration from the shapes of Taiwanese jades such as Jade Jue. In addition to continuing to discuss the spatial relationship between man and nature, CHOU Tai-Chun’s work this time also incorporates the research and review of tribal expeditions. The concrete and abstract images from different historical timelines interweave deep local emotions and memories.

LEE Chen-Dao’s new work creates a pink filter of the visual culture of pretty girls, juxtaposing familiar images, allowing viewers to travel freely, explore the art history of various eras, and think about the subtle relationship between the image of “girls" and popular culture. KOO uses the tape common in daily life as the medium of his creation, cutting and collaging it into colorful and dynamic images, the straight lines of the tape revealing a unique style and rhythm. This time, he and CHEN Pu will jointly bring video works, which will be presented in space projection as one of the highlights of the booth.

“The Image Game" exhibition by twelve artists will be held at booth F01, and presents the diversity and contemporary value of art. In addition, Liang Gallery will also bring the representative ink works of LI Yuan-Chia and LEE Chung-Chung to the Art Assets and Sustainability Demonstration Exhibition Area (Booth X02), and will displays the works of artists Milay Mavaliw, Iming Mafaliw, Labay Eyong, Aluaiy Kaumakan and Yuma Taru at the Aboriginal Culture Art Zone and Special Presentation Area (Booth X01/X08). We invite you to join us for this grand event!
