“The Tender Counteroffensives”, a solo exhibition by Hsu Wei-Hui, will be hold at Liang Gallery from January 5th (Saturday) to February 28th (Thursday). Exhibition will be opened to public at 3pm on January 5th. Hsu’s solo exhibition displays the latest series of “Guerilla Girl”. Her works feature situational photography and space-installation, and present the examination and the exploration toward the self-consciousness.
In the latest Hsu’s Facial Mask Series the hidden face is not just a plane expression, it is more three-dimensional, more layered. In the work Smiling to Life, the front is the fresh, bright, and colorful facial masks which look like flowers, revealing the infinite energy of the materials created by Hsu Wei-Hui. The layers of soft mask material in You are My Tender Weapon No.2 constitute a work featuring a weapon, which is placed in a cosmetic case. Hsu’s installation Guerilla Girl – Girls War more than one thousand guerilla girls wear military uniforms on top in their right hands, suggesting the spirit of masculinity. These guerilla girls embrace the spirit of persistence and the appearance of gentleness, revealing the contradictory emotions inside their hearts.
