The Dialogue between Water and Ink — The Painting World of LEE CHUNG-CHUNG

In celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Fu Hsing Kang College, National Defense University, Liang Gallery and The Fine Arts Museum of National Defense are proud to present “The Dialogue between Water and Ink — The Painting World of LEE CHUNG-CHUNG " in late 2024. This exhibition showcases a selection of the artist’s remarkable works spanning twenty-seven years, demonstrating her unique artistic vocabulary and innovative practice in contemporary ink painting.

Lee Chung-Chung, who graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Fu Hsing Kang College in 1965, has chosen to hold this exhibition at her alma mater on the 60th anniversary of her graduation, making this a particularly meaningful return. During her college years, she studied under Professor Lin Ko-kung, who established her solid artistic foundation and opened diverse perspectives for her future creative endeavors.

Lee Chung-Chung’s artistic creation excels in capturing subtle moments from life, transforming them into poetic abstract language. She employs various techniques such as rubbing and rendering to create rich layers and textures in her compositions. Through the interweaving flow of dense and light ink with colors, viewers can sense the artist’s profound understanding of nature and life.

Since joining the Chinese Painting Study Society, founded by Liu Kuo-Sung in 1968, Lee Chung-Chung has dedicated herself to experimenting with and innovating ink art. Her works present a unique perspective of Eastern aesthetics, inheriting the spirit of traditional ink painting while incorporating modern artistic expressions. Each piece represents both a dialogue with tradition and a testament to her breakthrough of artistic boundaries.

The exhibition includes her renowned abstract ink series, showcasing her distinctive interpretation of space, color, and form. Through her brushstrokes, viewers can experience the contemporary transformation of Eastern aesthetics and the artist’s exploration of life. We sincerely invited you to attend this significant exhibition and experience the poetic ink compositions of Lee Chung-Chung.
