At Huangsiliang’s house, flowers fill the path,
Myriad Blossoms press the branches low.
Constantly dancing butterflies stay to play,
Unrestrained, the lovely orioles cry.

Looking for Flowers: Seven Quatrains”, No. Six
In 2015, Liang Gallery will be holding artist’s Chang Tsui-Jung solo exhibition “Symphony of Four Seasons”. The exhibition will last from January 3rd (Saturday) to February 8th (Sunday), and will be opened to the audience on January 3rd (Saturday) at 3 pm. We invite you to visit a secret universe full of colored birds gracefully soaring in the air.
Blooming flowers, sweet and melodious sounds of birdsongs, Du Fu’s “Strolling Along the Riverbank, Looking for Flowers: Seven Quatrains”, all of it describe a beautiful spring scenery. Artist Chang Tsui-Jung combines the subjects commonly seen in Eastern ink wash paintings and the delicate techniques of depiction from Western oil paintings together to express a carefree imaginary world and a rich poetic nature of four seasons. In her paintings, the artist hopes to visualize the rich natural scenery of Taiwan, and the chanting sounds of the four seasons. The vitality originating from all living things is accompanying the visual melody of the grass and the trees dancing with the breeze. Everything seems so natural in her works, which not only reflects her inner desire for a peaceful world as shown in her psychological personality but also provides a comparison to the chaotic society of the current society in Taiwan. Perhaps, the idealized memory that emerges from the bottom of her heart is the artist’s introspection on the path of the society in terms of time and space.
Chang Tsui-Jung’s realistic creation has been awarded at many important government-run art competitions. After graduation from the National Taiwan College of Arts (now National Taiwan University of Arts), she went to Spain and together with restorer Kuo Chiang-Sung entered the Complutense University of Madrid to study Painting Creation. She adopts the unique quality and skills of modern painting materials from the East and the West, combining the expressions of “the abstract fluidity” and “the washing coloring of the strokes” with the technique of “revealing texture of the base coat and gilding,” visualizing the spiritual scene of the landscape which is subtle, tranquil, and transcend in multiple layers, including the transformations of wind, sunshine, rain, snow, and various natural phenomena as well as the wonderful flowers, birds, grass, and insects. Meanwhile, the metaphors of one’s spirit absorb the deeper idea, establishing an artistic style based on “form, meaning, and spirit.”
Flowers bloom and flowers die, spring leaves and autumn arrives, as every spring is different every year, the dawn and sunset is never the same either. Liang Gallery kindly invites you to enter the secret universe of Chang Tsui-Jung, in order to recreate the paradise of Peach Blossom Spring for your spirits and ideal life, and listen to the symphony of the four seasons.
