Born 1979 in Tainan, Jam Wu is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan. Wu’s oeuvre is mysterious and
primal, both down-to-earth and nimbly exquisite. His papercuts are like a form of summoning that
reaches out and connects with antiquity and the future. Through handcraft work, the warmth of
humanity, otherworldliness, and maternal qualities are expressed.
Wu holds a degree in architecture and has a fondness for poetry. He often engages in theatrical
collaborations and has also conducted several art-related community projects.
Wu is a recipient of the Cloud Gate Wanderer Project Fellowship. He is the first artist selected for
Taiwan’s Eslite Bookstore “Young Talent Artist Program”. He was awarded the First Prize for the
Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton. Wu’s works are collected in Meta, Deutsche Bank, Hermes, Sunpride
Foundation, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, etc.
