KOO Jun-yup, born in Seoul, South Korea in 1969, is a visual artist working with diverse media. He graduated from the Industrial Design Department of Kyungnam University. In 1990, he debuted with singer Hyun Jin-young as part of the group “Hyun Jin-young and WAWA." In 1996, he formed the idol duo “CLON" and achieved million-selling records, high concert ticket sales, and widespread popularity throughout Asia.
Currently, KOO has been active in various creative fields as a visual artist and DJ. Continuing his love and research for street art and graffiti culture, he utilizes common adhesive tape found in daily life as a medium for his creations. He cuts and collages the tape into various patterns and shapes, creating vibrant and dynamic images. By surpassing the boundaries of space, his works showcase a unique style with rich layers and a sense of rhythm, giving a new dimension to the originally linear tape.
KOO’s works have been exhibited in numerous art exhibitions and galleries, including the 2022 Seoul Media Art Week, the “Korea: Cubically Imagined" touring exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Mexico, the NFT exhibition at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), and the “8K Big Picture in FOR:REST" exhibition at COEX. He has also participated in the 2022 UDC Blockchain Forum and the NFT project of Kakao Ground X in Korea.
