TSAI Chieh-Hsin was born in 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan. Graduating from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at the Tainan National University of the Arts in 2010, TSAI Chieh-Hsin is known for her paper pulp sculpture. She chooses the material for its warm and sincere quality, but also for her belief in ecological sustainability with low-power consumption and waste reduction. Her artistic practice mostly focuses on human’s relationship with animals, plants and other humans, featuring a shared life of mutual learning and co-existence. The smiling face is the key motif in her works, with the familiar hugging gestures to express “love,” the simplest and purest form of feeling.
